Install Windows 7 Portege M400 With Ubuntu
Windows 7 on Portege M400. I am trying to install Windows 7 on my M400. (I tried both Ubuntu and XP Tablet Edition). Jul 24, 2011 - Hello all, I'm running 10.04.3 LTS on my Portege M400-ST4035 Specs are: Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66Ghz 4Gb of Ram Intel 945 IMA graphics Thanks for just checking around here in this sub-forum I learned how to rotate my screen and then figured out how to place buttons on my menu panel at the top of the.
How are u upgrading. Via windows xp press install on the windows 7 setup? Or via bios and DVD clean install under DOS. If u try to upgrade from XP to 7 through Windows XP it will never work as there is no upgrade path. You will need to make a clean install though DOS. Which means restart and spam F12 delete or F2 keys until u enter the menu.
F12/F10 is ususally boot menu. There u need to selected what device starts first and pick DVD.
Toshiba Portege M400
When windows loads it's disk you can install from there. KEEP IN MIND. You will lose everything on whatever drive u choose to install it too. So make sure u back-up and download all drivers beforehand cause u won't have internet after finishing the install.

Any other suggestions?
With only a week left before the pre-order deadline for win7 upgrade, i am now seriously testing win7 rc 32-bit to see if i wanna take the plunge and order the upgrade before the weekend. Has anybody managed to get the following to work? - FN-combo keys (such as adjusting brightness etc) - auto rotate screen when changing to tablet mode - accelerometer i tried to install toshiba's tablet pc extension for vista32 but doesnt seem to have an effect at all. Also, toshiba value added package doesnt seem to install at all? Whee, toshiba just released a newer and updated beta version of the m400 added value package for windows7 rc, which can now be actually installed (the previous version didnt work for me) auto screen rotation now works, fn-key combos now work because of flashcards actually working for once(and i am glad that they didnt use the stupid and slow animation like they did for the vista version), accelerometer now seem to work too (although not tested thoroughly) i strongly suggest everybody with m400+win7 download the package.
